
Emman Usman Shehu is a distinguished journalist, activist, academic director, and media development expert who currently serves as the Director of the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) in Abuja. With a career spanning decades across media practice and publishing, investigative journalism, and post-graduate communication education, he has been at the forefront of shaping professional reporting standards in Nigeria. His work emphasises the critical role of the press in ensuring institutional accountability ands navigating the complex history of communication as a tool for social and political governance. Through his leadership at the IIJ, he continues to champion regional journalism standards and sustainable media practices designed for community empowerment. Dr. Shehu an alumnus of ABU, BUK and UNN.
