Nmodu, mni, began his journalism career as a reporter in 1992 with TELL Magazine in Lagos. He later joined The Sentinel Magazine in Kaduna in 1994 on the invitation of late Dr Stanley Macebuh who offered him a job after a news interview.
He came back to Lagos after The Sentinel was rested and briefly worked with TEMPO in 1995.
He returned to TELL later in 1995 and was posted as Kaduna Bureau Chief of the magazine in 1996. The string of his pro-democracy reports and interviews led to his arrest and detention in 1998.
He later became an Assistant Editor with TELL . In 2001 he joined other TELL colleagues to co-found Insider Weekly magazine as an Executive Editor where he eventually rose to the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief.
In 2010, after establishing Newsdiaryonline in Lagos two years earlier (Precisely 2008), he resigned from Insider Weekly and relocated to Abuja as Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Newsdiaryonline.
He was nominated by the Presidency, through the Northern Media Forum, as a Participant, Senior Executive Course, SEC 40 (2018) at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Jos; and became a Member of The National Institute (mni) at the end of the Course.
He is the incumbent president of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers(GOCOP) after a keenly contested election. He is a family man with children.
