Mr Sadiq was born in Potiskum, Yobe State. He had his primary and secondary education in Potiskum and then proceeded to the University of Maiduguri where he graduated in 1991 with a BSc in Sociology and Anthropology.
He started working with the federal civil service as an Administrative Officer in 1993 where he rose through the ranks and retired as Assistant Director in 2011.
He has worked variously in the ministries of Health, Women Affairs, Sports, Education, State House, and finally in the office of the Head of Service of the Federation.
