The Neptune Prime Institute of Journalism (NPIJ) is a professional media training institution established to develop ethical, innovative, and industry-ready journalists, communicators, broadcasters, and digital content creators for Nigeria and beyond.
Built on the editorial heritage of Neptune Prime, one of Northern Nigeria's leading online newspapers, the Institute combines academic excellence with practical newsroom experience. Applicants learn directly from experienced media professionals while gaining hands-on exposure to modern journalism, multimedia storytelling, content creation, and digital communication.
Our programmes are designed for school leavers, working journalists, communication officers, entrepreneurs, and anyone passionate about using media as a force for truth, development, and positive social change.
Our Story
Neptune Prime Institute of Journalism was established as the academic and professional training arm of Neptune Prime, an independent online newspaper founded by Dr. Hassan Gimba Ahmed, ANPR, an accomplished Nigerian journalist, editor, author, and public affairs commentator.
Drawing on Neptune Prime's editorial culture of accuracy, responsibility, and public service, the Institute bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world newsroom practice. Applicants benefit from exposure to live editorial workflows, experienced journalists, and current digital publishing practices.
